Hazy Like a Fake [Aug. 27th, 2011|07:19 am]
Hazy Like a Fake
Show 001: The Spin-Off's Spin-Off
August 27, 2011 (56:42)

From the producer(s) of Crazy Like a Snake, it's Hazy Like a Fake, the spin-off which gives Randy's co-host/sidekick Joe Bahru a show of his own...but now *he* has a co-host/sidekick named Ben Lloyd. Pretty meta, huh? Twice as many foreign accents as you're used to!

This episode: Joe talks with Ben about important and trivial issues of the day, including (but not limited to) movies, smartphones, music, and television. Also, football. But not *real* football. They call it that, even though we know it as soccer. Silly British people!

Crazy Like a Snake
Show 010: Platens of the Apes
Aug. 11, 2011 (72:39)

Randy, in a moment of thrift-store passion, buys yet another manual typewriter. Joe tries to talk him down.

Topics on the day include: Cowboys vs. Aliens vs. Smurfs, the sad state of talk radio and the rise of podcasts, Joe's son the future MMA champion...and, frankly, much more conversation about typewriter hoarding than you're going to be comfortable with. Listener discretion advised.

Portland vs. Austin: Practical Breakdown [Aug. 8th, 2011|04:44 pm]
Consider this hypothetical for the moment, as I'm not prepared to move anywhere yet. But I'd really like to. If it happens, it won't be for at least a few months.

Ultimately moving will involve a great number of factors...such as getting a job where I'm going to live, the cost of rent, and the cost of the move.

Portland (or, rather, Vancouver WA) is 2232 miles away. Even if I was able to take a U-Haul, it would cost (at current rates) $889 for 9 days use, just over $514 for gas (at 16 mpg x $3.69 per gallon), plus any hotel stays because the journey would take 34 hours of driving. Add to that the fact that the unemployment rate is at least 12% and the place is full of hippies. But If I were to move there I'd almost certainly have to leave everything here in storage for years (again) and promise to return for it eventually (again).

Austin, with its 8% unemployment rate, is 232 miles away. Rents are cheaper than in Portland (or even Vancouver, which is cheaper than Portland). If I was able to take a U-Haul (which seems extremely likely), it would cost $189 for 2 days use plus gas of $53.50. Or I could leave the stuff in storage here and return on a day off at some future date to get it because it's not even four hours away.

But if you want the REAL difference, it's this.

Austin has Taco Bueno, and Portland does not.

That is all.

Crazy Like a Snake
Show 005: Ape Lincoln!
July 7, 2011 (67:09)

Once again, Randy and special guest Joe Bahru discuss the pertinent issues of the day. The show's growing listenership is proven by a negative comment at the very beginning. Compliments are also welcome. Let's not set any precedents here.

Topics on the day include: Monkeys, Randy's potential for embracing the Unabomber lifestyle, the allure of the manual typewriter, monkeys with manual typewriters, the PLANET OF THE APES sequel/prequel, indie music, monkeys with exo-skeletons, Yahoo Answers, and of course boobs. It's everything you'd expect.

Crazy Like a Snake
Show 004: This IS Iowa
June 30, 2011 (89:20)

Special guest Joe Bahru lends an international flare to this global edition of CRAZY LIKE A SNAKE. Joe (also known to longtime fans of the THIS AIN'T IOWA podcast as Ace Rockolla) checks in from Malaysia, peppering Randy with questions and trying to get inside his bipolar skull. Did he succeed? Tip of the iceberg, man...tip of the iceberg.

Topics on the day include: British BBW porn queens, monkey strength vs. retard strength, Joe's helpful suggestions for Randy's writing alias Rupert King, why even the biggest boobs will never be big enough, the glories of unmedicated insanity, numerous mentions of a certain semi-famous Las Vegas podcast, and who knows what else. The show is essentially a 90-minute unedited conversation between two people on opposite ends of the Earth...so you know how these things go. More fun than a barrel of retard-strength monkeys.

Crazy Like a Snake [Jun. 23rd, 2011|05:16 am]
Crazy Like a Snake
Show 003: Here's the Thing
June 23, 2011 (68:36)

On schedule like clockwork, it's a new CRAZY LIKE A SNAKE! This week, Randy gives in to corporate temptation and begins taking sponsorship blood money. Hey, everybody's doin' it, am I right? Also, more Lady Gaga hate, an improvised story, Chicago on vinyl, Freddy and Jason, dead Ryan Dunn and dead Clarence Clemmons, a fantastic Hitler Yahoo Answers question, and who knows what else. It's a fun-a-palooza, though the fun is more implied and not expressed.

Still, you can't beat the price. Am I right, people who like to download things for free?!?

Crazy Like a Snake
Show 002: Soapy's Choice
June 16, 2011 (65:20)

The NEW Crazy Like a Snake podcast! Now with MORE MUSIC! MORE TWITTER HATE! Actually, the same format that some of you may have experienced last week, but with some songs. I'll be honest with you...I'm not much of a salesman. I tried phone sales. Hated it. I don't like selling pushing things on people that they obviously don't want or need and can't afford. Luckily, this one is free and will only rob you of valuable precious time.

This week: dope songs! Snide comments about celebrities! Mindless chatter about 1970s men's adventure fiction! Yahoo Answers! And my controversial theory about why diet sodas taste so bad. The answer may surprise you. Or, not.

Crazy Like a Snake

Show 001: Finding My Orifice

Sure, this premiere episode starts out harmlessly enough. There's some shop talk, some ranting, an improvised story, and the expected bashing of Lady Gaga. Then, things go bad. I offer some unsolicited advice to Yahoo Answers, and it all goes south. I can't tell you how sorry I am about this. Unless you like it...in which case, see you next week!
